It played for half an hour without me.

After I got the rocket upgrades to max, I just made him go as fast as possible in one direction, and walked away from the computer.

I came back with a ridiculous score + cash, and the timer said I stayed in the air for a little over a half hour.

Wow.

Fun game though... when I was actually playing
;)

Don't think you actually fixed the popup bug

In the second round a popup was happening every 5 seconds.

In case I did something different than expected that may have set the popups off, you may want to try this to recreate the bug:
- at the end of the first round, I was clicking like crazy to kill the zombies and when I got them all, I was still clicking when the round completion screen opened, and then a popup opened.
- when I purchased my items and started the next round, part way through the round was when a different set of popups started opening on their own like mad

anyway, good game, just thought I should give you a heads up!

Decent

It's an interesting start...

I can see a relatively good game coming out of this, but I would recommend adding some things.

For example, you could make levels, powerups and the like, and provide different kinds of challenges.
You also do not need to have the ability to move the pipes from side to side because technically you could just rotate the whole board to get gravity to help move the ball closer to the correct tube. This would add a new element of challenge.

If you come up with other such elements of challenge, you could set up the game in a series of training levels which involve the need to use a new technique involved in the game so that the player would learn how to be proficient in it.

Exercize your creativity. You could potentially make this into something unique and enjoyable. As is, though, it feels more like a test of actionscript, and not a real game, though that may very well be what it is.

Good luck!

Bugs to report...

First off, I love Blockhead. Always much enjoyed.

I don't know if you're into fixing any of the bugs for this but, here's one you didn't mention.

I was running from the FBI for over 5 minutes until I closed the game because the buttons stopped responding, and well.. it went well over 3 minutes.
Basically, about 10 seconds before 3 minutes was up, I told the conscience to take a break and let Blockhead run wild... he did so.. and I guess because the conscience was gone, when the clock hit 3 minutes, I didn't pass the level but Blockhead continued to conduct mayhem, as well as speak to FBI dudes, without any repercussions. So then when the conscience returned, I still was unable to issue any commands, and the timer kept going, so I had to restart the game entirely.

But if you don't care.. then... oh well. I still love your stuff!

Hmm, that is a big problem and I aim to fix it. Thanks for the heads-up!

Your graphics, someone else's code...

Well... I think the game is done relatively okay... however, I've downloaded the same FLA that you did to make this game (I recognize the timer, sound effects, game structure, etc...) So I know you just basically inputted your own graphics...

but still... well done. You made it different enough from the original (graphic-wise) but the gameplay is still exactly the same, so that's kind of a shame... Maybe take a bit of time to mix it up a bit and make things a bit more different... like give the ufo weapons.. and maybe the ability to fly and not just jump, which would make more sense...

Erikcq responds:

Yeah... But when I played it for the first time I thought that it deserved to be played by a bigger audience. I gave him the proper credit (The problem is that most people doesn't read the author's comment).

Scrumptulescent!

First I'll note a few bugs.
If you enter a code to advance to where you left off, the menu music continues to play during the rest of the gameplay over the regular level music. It's really really irritating, so you may want to fix that. Second, the lives never run out, but someone else mentioned that I think. But I actually kind of liked the unlimited lives as some of the levels were really hard and I'd hate to have to keep entering the code and replaying all the levels to get there... Last of all, in the very last level with the girl, "RUN", the water doesn't kill you. I just stayed underwater and hopped up the blocks with ease.

Otherwise, super awesome game man! I really enjoyed this nostalgic game, and the ending was really funny. You should maybe add a "thanks for playing" and "menu", "restart" or something to that effect after the 8-bit people have their conversation, because it just hits a black screen and I wondered for a second if something hadn't finished loading and I should be waiting for something to happen or not.

What else? Oh, the MUSIC my friend. FANTASTIC... I really really loved it. I could have listened to it all day. I don't think there's really anything else to suggest. That game was gold.

You got bugs...

First you should know that the jewels that fall furthest to the left of the screen and a set of money bags that fall in the centre screen cannot be collected for some reason. They just kinda keep falling.. so you may want to look into that.

It's not bad I suppose... I think it's an interesting start, and I think if you keep working you'll learn to expand your flash capabilities. But you may want to make the game more interesting. Add some more stuff to do so that the game isn't instantly boring. Add some obstacles, maybe a bit more animation, a storyline to explain how collecting falling jewels has anything to do with learning to fly perhaps... but most of all, have different music! That was really irritating and repetitive.

you can also give options like turning the music on or off. Your graphics seemed relatively okay, but it could also be interesting if you programmed the eagle to swoop and stuff when he turns corners instead of the total linear up, down, left, right sort of thing...

I hope that helps. All in all, not a bad effort. Keep trying.

yea i know i was telling other people that im new to this so i need some help

I'm of the opinion that great videos and solid comedy can be achieved without explicit language and nudity. Though I'm not a fantastic animator, I still strive to create family friendly material.
